Brittany Abeijon always wanted to start a magazine. After getting a B.S. in News-Editorial Journalism from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, she jumped right into corporate communications. Soon after, she gathered a group of talented friends together to create what would be Facets—as determined over brunch. Brittany has a knack for words, a passion for her work and a fondness for wine. You'll most likely find her in her Highland Park, Ill., condo, glued to her iPad or shopping for shoes. Often, all at once.
Rachel Kosmal is a jack-of-all-trades, creative guru-in-training for Facets, seeking out new and creative ways to bring technological diversity to its pages. After graduating with a B.A. in Communication Arts, Rachel settled down in the suburbs of Chicago with her husband and a dog, and is looking forward to using her skills in this exciting, online publication. Rachel spends most of her time sleeping, but when she's awake she enjoys the simple things such as drawing, acting, spending time with her family, camping and drinking craft beers.
For as long as Lynn W. Conway can remember, photography has been part of her life. Her fascination began when she was little, as she often observed her mom in her dark room as she processed film and developed pictures. Lynn loves connecting to people with photographs, and most importantly capturing something—a memory or a reminder of something special—that will last a lifetime. Lynn's loyalty lies with her hometown New York, quotable movies, singable music, vampires and all other freaky things that go bump in the night.
Native Hoosier and design fanatic Melissa Griffin graduated from Purdue with a degree in Graphic Design and worked for several years in the construction industry. She longed for more creativity in her life and returned to graduate school at Syracuse University, receiving a Master of Architecture degree in 2010. She loves everything about design, from modern architecture to graphic design and photography, and is particularly passionate about sustainability and green design. She loves shopping for recycled goods and enjoys a great cabernet.
Ashley Johnston recently graduated from Stonehill College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in Graphic Design and Marketing. Ashley loves to use her creative skills to design anything from business cards to logos, but magazine design has definitely become her favorite. Born and raised in Massachusetts, she loves unpredictable weather and considers New England to be where she belongs. In her free time, you can find her experimenting with new baking recipes, watching Modern Family on her laptop or hiking the 4,000-footers in New Hampshire.
Jenny Schuler has been working as a designer for five years in Chicago and is proud to call the Windy City her home. She has always had a knack for all things artsy-fartsy and is also skilled in photography, video editing and motion graphics, although she particularly loves Web design. However, design is not her only passion. Armed with her from master's degree in Voice Performance from Roosevelt University, she plans to pursue an operatic career with the support of her design skills. In her spare time, Jenny can be found designing on the computer while simultaneously knitting, scrapbooking, cooking, beer tasting and singing Brunhelda style, wearing the traditional horned helmet.
After venturing to the top of the Sears Tower for the first time during college, Sam Lawwell decided Chicago was the place she wanted to call home. Born and raised in Ohio, she always had a strong desire for city living. After graduating with a B.A. in Marketing/Advertising from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio, she packed up and moved to the Windy City. Sam is a horror movie buff who loves tapas, karaoke, cooking, a yummy glass of sangria, photography, great friends and conversation.

Despite spending four splendid years at the University of Michigan earning a B.A. in American Studies (with minors in Political Science and Spanish), Steve has spent the rest of his time in the 847 and 773 honing his journalistic, music-listening and coffee-drinking skills. His life is a mix of Office Space and Almost Famous as he works in a corporate office for a Fortune 500 company, yet has lofty dreams of being a writer. He also has dreams of the day when no one ever again confuses "your" for "you’re."
After Lauren Coy graduated with a B.A. in Mass Communications and Journalism from Lock Haven University, she settled down in the Philadelphia suburbs with her husband and cute son. Lauren remembers her days fondly on the "first" type of social media: AOL's Instant Messenger. Lauren spends most of her time pouring through websites, magazines, Tumblr and all things social media. When she's not doing her day job in fundraising, she enjoys the little treats in life such as movies, sushi, wine and all Bravo reality TV.
Jamie Lewis graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2012 with a B.A. in English and French. Despite having no previous connections to UGA, she now bleeds red and black and loves all things Athens, Georgia. Jamie's other passions include public relations and social media. She is known for turning internet friends into "IRL" friends and isn't afraid to talk about how much social media has changed her life. A self-proclaimed book lover, Jamie once claimed she would "never own an e-reader," but can now be spotted with her Kindle in her purse at all times. Often, you can find Jamie live-tweeting episodes of The Vampire Diaries or instagramming her daily Starbucks beverage.
